Nice detail of Window at Entry Stairs - nice way to frame stairs within window frame
Karolina and Erik have decorated a lovely apt.

The Chesterfield sofa was found on a used furniture internet site.

Erik’s artwork.

The bookshelf, wall panel, ceiling lamp and daybed are all home-built by Erik.

The desk is a painted wooden board with store bought legs.

Erik built the unique wardrobe in the hall. This is so unique- much more interesting than a plain flat one.

The greenhouse in the kitchen is Erik’s baby. He had longed for it for a while, and bought it at a discount
when someone returned it. Unfortunately, Erik says few plants survive in it, but cacti do well. Under the greenhouse there is a wine cooler. Erik made the table from old wall boards.

The bedroom’s sideboard was bought second hand, repainted in pink and fitted with new handles.

The bedroom is painted in calm gray with more pink accents. The shelf was bought second hand.

The walls of the children’s room have pretty wallpaper and a growing bed from IKEA. The nursery is dominated by the fantastic bunk castle that Erik built, adorned with plants, pennants and pompoms.

When very old meets new in a Swedish with worn walls and ceilings.

Soraya isn’t sure when the house was built, but she thinks it dates back to 1800. She decorated it with a nod to both past and present. Look for textured walls, bare ceilings and a wealth vintage & antique pieces. The living room may have worn walls, but the furniture is very mid-century mod.

The kitchen was modernized and the walls look redone as well, but there’s lovely vintage pieces like the table and butcher block.

Stairs in the middle of the kitchen lead upstairs. Notice the homebuilt shelving custom made to fit a collection of clay vessels. An opening in the ceiling holds a net with a mattress, which is quite unusual.

There a table & chairs on the 2nd floor, more than likely b/c Soraya has 6 children and it’s probably a place for homework, games, art, etc.

The master bedroom has a oddly pleasing irregular piece of plaster art above the bed.

The children sleep Pullman train style, and each has their own storage.

The family bath has a worn chest as a sink vanity.

Fashion designer Zandra Rhodes’ penthouse is an explosion of art and color. With her trademark pink hair, blue eye shadow and theatrical outfits, her home is every bit as vibrant and colorful as she is and reflects her extraordinary talent.

Zandra lives in a penthouse apartment above the Fashion and Textiles Museum
which she founded, and her design studio is on the floor below.

She had the entire open plan living space painted like a rainbow when she first moved in, drawing lines for the colors herself with chalk and commissioning a tile company to create the swirling colored floor.

Several pieces of art by Andrew Logan are on display including mosaic busts of Zandra, colorful lamps and an enormous mirrored sculpture of Ghandi.

A small vibrant blue kitchen is part of the open space. Delicate pastel dishes are on display, along with more deeply colored ones.

Chairs in the shape of Zs, originally created for Zandra’s flagship stores in the 1970s, are dotted around, while a mannequin called Ethel oversees proceedings, resplendent in Zandra’s original designs.

Bright red dining room.

No serenity in this bedroom- it’s as bright as the rest of the home.

Down to the studio on the floor below.

Part of the labyrinth of rooms in the studio.

Library holding lots of design books, some fabric samples and color, color, color.

The exterior of the penthouse is pink, of course.
